Short version: it's your library, on your Mac.

Privacy

Tomo is a local-first macOS app. Your library is a folder of files on your own disk — wherever you put it, including iCloud Drive if you choose. There is no Tomo server, no account, no login, no sign-up.

Crash reports. On by default, opt-out any time in Settings → Privacy. When something goes wrong, Tomo sends the crash stack trace and your macOS version to a hosted error tracker (Sentry) so I can fix it. Paths under your home folder are scrubbed before anything leaves your Mac. No library contents, no identifiers, no analytics, no usage tracking — ever.

Updates. Tomo checks tomolibrary.com/appcast.xml for new versions on launch (via Sparkle, the standard macOS updater). That's an ordinary web request with no personal data attached; you can turn automatic checks off.

Things you trigger. Cover and metadata lookups (Open Library, Apple, Google Books) and fetching the plugin registry happen only when you click. Search plugins you install make requests to their own third-party sources — those sites have their own terms, and what you install is your call.

Terms

Tomo is free and open source under the AGPL-3.0 licence. The source is on GitHub.

It's provided “as is”, with no warranty of any kind. Tomo organises your files and writes books to your e-reader — use it at your own risk and keep backups of anything you care about.

Tomo is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Amazon/Kindle, Kobo, or any catalogue or metadata source it talks to.

Plugins are third-party code you choose to install; you're responsible for what you run. Tomo does not remove or circumvent DRM.
